I have been working on my website a lot lately and I can’t even count the number of times my little Backup Buddy has saved my life ! Ok, maybe not my life, but definitely many many hours of work. You know, those moments when you think you lost everything ? The frustration, the anger, the urge of throwing your computer out the window ? You know what I’m talking about, right ?Well, ever since I have my little buddy, those moments don’t happen too often anymore. Let me tell you more about this buddy of mine and why I think you need this tool for your WordPress website as well: Backup Buddy WordPress Plugin Review
1. WordPress doesn’t offer backup. Did you know that ? There is no default backup offered by WordPress. And if you are counting on your website host to help you with restoring your site, please reconsider. It will be very complicated.

2. What is Backup Buddy? It is a simple WordPress Plugin, developed by the guys at Ithemes.com. You can backup, restore or even move your whole WordPress site to another domain or server. It comes in 2-site or 10-site licenses.

3. How much does it cost ? The 2-site license costs USD 75.00 and the 10-site license costs USD 100.00. You get access to the iThemes support forums, and upgrades for 12 months.

4. How do I install it ? It’s easily installed, just like any other plugin. You simply upload it to your site via FTP, or by using the Install Plugins interface in the WordPress admin area.

5. How do I run backups?
Backup Buddy You go into the Plugin settings where you can select whether you want to back up the database only or do a full backup. Simply click on your back up of choice and Backup Buddy will create the backup file for you. You can then leave it on the site or click on it to download it.

6. How do I schedule backups ?
Backup Buddy Scheduling and Exporting Backup Buddy also comes with an automatic scheduling system. You can select the frequency and the type of the backup (full or data base backup only).
Backup Buddy scheduling What is really cool is that you can also choose to send your backup directly to your destination of choice. Either your AmazonS3 account, your Dropbox Account, FTP or e-mail. I don’t recommend sending it to your e-mail, since most likely the file will be too big.
Last but not least, you can also restore your whole site if it has been hacked or if you were trying to tweak the template and things didn’t work out for example. Simply follow the 5 steps in the Restore/Migration tool and everything will be back to normal again. To be quite honest I don’t do this myself, but I will ask Staci who helps me with this if she would be interested in writing a guest post about this process. So watch this space for more info…

In conclusion: I highly recommend the Backup Buddy plugin for every WordPress Website. It will save you many frustrations !
